The answer to today’s Wordle is “FINCH“.
The word “Finch” is a noun which refers to a family of songbirds. There are hundreds of different species in the family of Fringillidae, which are considered true finches. However, most countries have a limited number of species native to their shores. Common species include the goldfinch, chaffinch, and crossbill.
According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the origin of “Finch” is the Old English word “finc”. It also appears in German and Dutch as “vink” and “vinke,” with speculation that the name in all languages is imitative of the bird’s call. Over time, different names have been assigned to particular species based on their characteristics, among other things.

- Try to eliminate all five vowels early. As there are only a handful of vowels, it’s best to use them all within the first 2-3 guesses.
- Use popular letters early. As well as the vowels, letters such as T, S, N, R, H, C, D, and L appear most commonly in English words.
- Take your time over your guesses. Wordle isn’t timed, so there’s no rush to complete it. You can even guess on paper first.
- Remember that letters can appear twice (and often do). Keep this in mind when guessing, as forgetting it can lead you to mess up.
