The answer to today’s Wordle is “STEEL“.
The word “Steel” is primarily a noun, but can also be both a verb and an adjective. The noun variously refers to a type of metal, an instrument made of that metal, and a quality that brings the metal to mind. The verb means to forge something from steel or to have a strong resolve, while the adjective is used to suggest strength and/or determination.
According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the origin of “Steel” is thought to be the Proto-Indo-European word “stek-lo-“, from the root “stak-” meaning that which stands firm. It is then found in Middle English as “stele,” Old Saxon as “stehli,” German as “stahl,” and lots more languages besides. The modern word “stay” shares a common root.

- Try to eliminate all five vowels early. As there are only a handful of vowels, it’s best to use them all within the first 2-3 guesses.

- Take your time over your guesses. Wordle isn’t timed, so there’s no rush to complete it. You can even guess on paper first.
- Remember that letters can appear twice (and often do). Keep this in mind when guessing, as forgetting it can lead you to mess up.
