China and Egypt established diplomatic ties on May 30, 1956, with Egypt becoming the first Arab and African country to forge diplomatic relations with China.

In 2024, the trade volume between China and Egypt reached $17.38 billion. Approximately 300,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt, according to a mid-December statement from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt.
