Nestled in the heart of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Bosten Lake, whose name means “oasis” in the Uygur language, stands as China’s largest inland freshwater lake. Covering an area of more than 1,600 square kilometers, this stunning body of water was once known as the “Western Sea” in ancient China.
